David, I really love your work. It is simply stunning. Even though a lot of metal is in your images (cars and trains) there’s not one thing that feel mechanically sterile. I love the textures within the subjects. Very classical.

Artist's Description

15" x 22" Prismacolor, Verithin, Inktense, White Gel and an acrylic wash sky with Verithin Pencil overlay.

New York Central pieced this train together with dated heavyweight equipment. Henry Dreyfuss designed the interiors of seven passenger cars and completed the look when he finished with the engine, transforming the train into a work of Art.

I would work 8-10 hours daily on engraving a contour map with a hand held, .002 line engraver for up to 200 hours, depending on the terrain being mapped. Drawing tools have become an extension of my hand. My daily work, for over 20 years, touched on all parts of mapping, from surveyors’ notes to map folding. This daily environment was a constant honing of eye/hand skills. I have 7 basic forms that guide me, square, round, elliptical, triangle, hexagon, oval and rectangle. Master the line...
