Description
Here is my colored pencil drawing of the Horse van made which was made exclusively for Calumet Farm by General Motors in 1939. I modeled this from a photo by Joyce Johnson and a photo in the archives of the digital library of the University of Kentucky, used with permission of both.
Calumet Farm is a Thoroughbred breeding and training farm established in 1924 in Lexington, KY by William Monroe Wright, founding owner of the Calumet Baking Powder Company. Calumet is located in the heart of the Bluegrass, a well-known horse breeding region. Calumet Farm has a record history of eight Kentucky Derby winners and two Triple Crown winners (Whirlaway and Citation) and for over 87 years; it has produced some of the greatest Thoroughbred horses of all time.
