Description
I have a nice collection of postcards that my dad sent my mother during WWII. Wonderful images of New York and Chicago. One of the post cards was of this train pulling out of Chicago carrying American troops east, then to Europe. I used the train as the model for the main image and created the setting from imagination.
In a foreign place the Desert Wind flows across the unknown and unpredictable land as it rushes toward a destination that all the inhabitants of this planet have in common. Remember, it is the journey, not the destination, that defines us.
This colored pencil drawing has a surreal feeling overall, but the familiarity of the background image places this more in modern art. My style is becoming more recognizable for the mixture of images from the past mingled with other planet setting. This comes from avid reading of science fiction novels and imagining them in my current reality of the 1960's and 70's.
Warm colors add a sense of comfort for the viewer. This art would be at home in an urban dwelling and goes well with contemporary and modern styles. Suitable for all rooms of the home or office. This would be a nice piece of art to hang in a Travel Agency or manufacturer office.
Thanks
